WELCOME TO THE MINI AND JUNIOR SECTION OF LIVERPOOL ST.HELENS FOOTBALL CLUB
2010-2011
Dear Player, Caregiver, Supporter and Friend
Welcome to a new season of mini and junior rugby at Liverpool St. Helens. For the 2010/11 season the management organisational structure put in place last season building on the tremendous efforts of the first two full years of the section under the expert guiding hand of John Foster and the Committee, continues. The purpose of this letter is to advise you, as a key part of the section, of how the section functions and how you can help.
Visions and Values
The section exists as part of the main LSH club to provide rugby opportunities to children in a safe and controlled environment with the emphasis on enjoyment. We have developed a ‘visions and values’ document which sets out the visions, values, underpinning principles and key objectives of the mini and junior section at Liverpool St. Helens. I do hope you take the time to read it as it will help you to understand what we as a mini and junior section (MJS) value as important and it may help you to understand why we make some of the decisions we do.
Organisational Structure
The Executive Committee of the MJS is responsible for strategic direction, delivery of objectives, disciplinary issues and links with the main club. For 2010/11 the Exec will meet at Moss Lane on the first Tuesday of the months of August, October, December, February, April and June. The Exec Committee is made up of the following members
Tom Jackson – Chair
Ste Metcalfe – Vice Chair
Paul Killilea – Secretary
Elaine Smith – Treasurer
Trude Houghton – Child Welfare Officer
John Foster – Coaching Coordinator
Barry Ford – Projects
The Exec Committee is supported by two sub committees. This structure is important as this is where most of the important operational issues are discussed. The two sub committees are a Rugby Committee chaired by Ste Metcalfe (MJS Vice Chair) and a Management Committee chaired by Paul Killilea (MJS Secretary). The main areas of business for each Committee are as below (Vision and Principles). As with many clubs in our position, the section is run by a pool of volunteers, primarily parents. If you feel you have anything that you can offer to either Committee please do come forward and speak to either Ste or Paul. The structure provides a framework whereby you can have a valid input without necessarily making a long term commitment. Whilst all contributions to help are most welcome we have a particular need for a fixture secretary/ies and we will also be seeking help with fundraising and social events in the coming season.
Communication
The issue of communication has been raised. We will be using the website more, along with newsletters. Please feel free to make any suggestions you may have to improve communication.
Finally
I sincerely hope you enjoy the 2010/11 season in whatever capacity, but if you do wish to be more involved either on the social/fundraising or playing side then we would love to hear from you. You can be assured that although we are all volunteers everything we strive for is for the benefit of the players.
Yours in rugby
Tom Jackson
