Didsbury Toc H  Vs  Liverpool Saint Helens
29
th January 2012

Half time score: 3 – 7
Final Score: LSH 14 – Didsbury Toc H 8

The game started brightly for LSH, with everyone eager to improve on the home result. With the forwards going forward it wasn’t long before Didsbury gave away a penalty in the ruck, Adam H went for the 3 points but pushed the ball just wide of the upright. From the restart it was more of the same from LSH and the pressure soon told as Callum went in for the first try, which was duly converted by Adam H. Much of the game is being played in the Didsbury half of the field, and even when they do make the break LSH soon have the ball back in the right half of the pitch. A quick break from Didsbury and a scrambling defence saw LSH give away a penalty which Didsbury duly converted.  A lot of hard work from both sides saw a half time score of Didsbury 3 – LSH 7

From the restart Didsbury were on the front foot, trying to pressure the LSH line but good defence from Sam, Jack, Danny, Tom, John and Adam L made sure nothing was getting through the LSH line. A break from Callum and good runs from the supporting players saw Danny go over but the ref said he was held up.  No matter the way LSH were winning the scrums confidence was high. It took a little longer than expected but LSH went over again with Callum and Adam H conversion saw the lead extend to 11 points.

Didsbury weren’t going to give up easily and some silly handling errors from LSH gave them the opportunity they wanted with a try, but they missed the conversion. LSH were on the back foot and silly errors saw them taking pressure from the Didsbury team they could have avoided, with the home team gaining the advantage in the breakdowns LSH had to battle hard and with only a minute to go Didsbury went through the LSH line and it looked like they were over, LSH struggling to keep the player up when Callum popped through the line with the ball and made good yards to clear the danger. Some determined play from the forwards and an infringement by Didsbury meant LSH could kick the ball out and the game was over. Final Score Didsbury 8 – LSH 14

A Good game from both sides, with LSH not playing at their best but they stayed together as a team and the result came. This would not of happened in the past so credit to the players and the coaches.
