Amidst all the excitement of the 150th anniversary celebrations at Liverpool St Helens, another significant achievement was the award of the RFU Seal of Approval, Year 2, a testimony to the effort, dedication and competence of the junior committee at Moss Lane.
Lancashire RFU President David Herriman was a special guest at the recent LSH Christmas dinner (hosted by Club President Ray French) to present the award to LSH Chairman John Bithell, confirming that LSH continued to meet the highest standards in providing a safe, effective and child friendly club.
Reflecting on a mini and junior section which has seen nine teams established in just two years John Bithell said “The RFU Seal of Approval acknowledges our continued commitment to the Active Sports Programme and the successful implementation of the first year of our development plan. It also recognises the hard work of John Foster, junior chairman and Paul Woodward, Rugby Development Officer, as well as their excellent team of managers, coaches and helpers.”

ST.HELENS SPORTS COUNCIL AWARD
As well as the President of Lancashire RFU , the club was pleased to have as guests St.Helens Sports Council, alongside speakers Chris Joynt and Tommy Martin.
Sports Council Chair Roy Jones presented a cheque for £500 to LSH Chairman John Bithell to continue the development of the LSH junior section and help fund the junior celebration matches for the 150th anniversary of the club.
John Bithell,   “We are delighted at the continued support from the Sports Council. They have encouraged us every step of the way.”

AWARDS FOR ALL
To complete the ‘hat trick’, the Junior Section successfully applied for grants from ‘Awards for All’ and the Local Network Fund which have funded the purchase of some of the best training equipment, and we are currently awaiting delivery of one of the latest and safest Junior scrummage sleds.
