Having finally reached second spot in North One West, albeit on points difference from Altrincham Kersal, Liverpool St Helens now face the monumental task of staying there. The hard fought win over Broughton Park last Saturday signalled the end of the season at Moss Lane and the beginning of a remarkable seven match sequence of away fixtures.

“Ellisons are fully revved up and our travelling support have got their bus passes at the ready” said LSH’s genial President, Ray French. “I’m told that those with SatNavs are learning how to use them! It’s a big task, but the team has been steadily improving all season, we haven’t lost since early December and we certainly won’t fail through effort and endeavour”.

The grand tour of the North West begins this Saturday at Burnage, a first time visit for the Moss Laners. Martin Jones’ men know they are in for a tough test, having been held to a 20-20 draw by the Heaton Mersey outfit at Moss Lane last November.

Jones had mixed news on the three injuries picked up against Broughton Park. He said “Simon Worsley is doubtful, but I am hopeful about prop Simon Griffiths, and Paul Bamber will definitely be fit. Greg Smith also returns this week”.

Meanwhile the club have confirmed that they have submitted a formal complaint to the League in respect of the postponement of the game at Northwich.
