LSH U16s 60pts - 5ts Southport 29th January 2012
Southport arrived with only 13 players so LSH played a 13-a-side game without flankers. The additional space on the pitch afforded opportunities early on for the Moss Laners with the first try coming in less than 5 minutes. LSH played some good flowing rugby against a much weaker than expected Southport side.
Towards the end of the first half some individualism crept into the match with "white line fever" kicking in, with some players forgetting they had options wide and into clear space. Lessons were learned at half time and a better "rugby team" effort was on display in the second half.
With 6 substitutes raring to get on, the coaches decided to rotate players every 12 minutes to keep eveyone in the game. This meant LSH had fresher legs throughout the match and the improved fitness shone through.
Good lineouts and improved scrummaging set the team up nicely with LSH scoring 10 tries, Paddy converting 5. Southport managed a much deserved late consolation try.
Man of the Match was Paddy - who once again gave a gutsy performance at lock throughout the match.
Training Thursday 8pm at Lowe House Boxing Club. Next match is away to Sefton. The lads and coaches wish Adam a speedy recovery from his wrist injury.
