Whole Club Seal of Approval Presentation Twickenham (13th March 2011)
Two of Liverpool St Helens' First Ladies set out for a big day on Sunday March 13th when they travelled to Twickenham as guests of the RFU to receive, on behalf of the club, its award of the Whole Club Seal of Approval.  After being treated to the traditional lunch and drinks in the West Car Park, Trude Houghton and Elaine Smith received the Award on the pitch during the half time interval of the Calcutta Cup Match.

Trude has a lifetime of involvement at the club since starting as a Moss Lane cloakroom girl when aged 16 and is currently the LSH Child Welfare Officer. “I have always enjoyed watching rugby” she said “but have never seen a live International before and am really looking forward to it”. Elaine is registration secretary and treasurer of the mini-junior section having first become involved with LSH four years ago when her son Adam, now in the under 10’s, joined the mini section. Elaine said “I’m just looking forward to representing the club and enjoying the whole experience”.
LSH is one of the first 50 clubs in the country to receive this elite award which recognises the effort and achievement of volunteers in reaching the required standard of a club committed to the development of rugby union across a whole club. It demonstrates that it is providing its members with a safe, well organised and enjoyable environment in which to learn and play rugby.

“That’s precisely why Trude and Elaine were chosen to represent our club on this great occasion” said LSH Chairman John Bithell. “As well as being professional and thorough in everything they do, they both work tirelessly for the club and really deserve to have a great day out”.
