On behalf of everyone at Liverpool St.Helens FC I would like to welcome to Moss Lane, in this our 150th season, all our visitors, players, supporters, and the match officials without whom we would have no match..
The influence and vision of those early pioneers who introduced rugby to Liverpool and St.Helens and the results of their initiatives can be seen both on and off the pitch today. We celebrate the work of the many hundreds who, throughout our club’s 150 year history, have kept rugby alive and well by their acts of selfless devotion and dedication; and whose names will never grace the Honours Boards. These embrace the club’s workers from the Committee right through to those members who can offer only limited and occasional help
The flame burns brightly for the provision of rugby for youngsters of all ages and men and women of all abilities. The club fields four adult teams; two Colts teams; and a range of Junior sides from age seven to thirteen. Ground and building improvements are being made. Initiatives are ongoing to attract local business support and sponsorship to the club to provide all the assistance and support necessary to the coaches and players who are doing so much to maintain the valued reputation and name of Liverpool St.Helens in the world of rugby. We thank you all and value your support.
No club can move forward without a thriving youth/junior section and due praise is given to all those who are working so hard to develop this new area which is now flourishing.
Enjoy your club's 150th season - a demanding one for the 1st XV as they attempt to come to terms with the results of their promotion from North 2 West last year; and an eagerly anticipated one for our ever increasing number of senior players and the many youngsters in our youth and mini rugby sections.
We are privileged to be the ones able to celebrate the club's 150th anniversary with a number of events throughout 2007/08. And it is an honour for me to be able to welcome our visitors and ask them to participate in our celebrations on the terraces and in the clubhouse before and after the match. I hope our visiting clubs will excuse me, however, for hoping that the celebrations on the pitch at the final whistle will be confined to Liverpool St.Helens FC!
Ray French, President, Liverpool St.Helens Football Club.
