Formation
Liverpool St.Helens Football Club launched its new mini and junior section on 7th April 2006 with a series of games, and to this end has been in close contact with several primary and junior schools in the area.
In support of this initiative the club is grateful for the financial assistance of the Community Foundation for Merseyside Local Network Fund, St Helens District Sports Council, and Merseytravel who are helping to fund the travel costs from the participating schools to Moss Lane.
The club is also grateful for sponsorship of the event by Distrupol through Dave Jukes, former Cowley School student and pupil of LSH President, Ray French.
Last but not least, the club also wishes to acknowledge the help received from Sue Wright of the St Helens District Council for Voluntary Service and Michaylo Fedyk from the St Helens Council Sport Development Unit
Training
Training sessions were started on 4th June and will now be held every Sunday, 11.00 am. They are for minis (year 7 and up), and also for under 17s , a new squad just established. The first session was well attended by both minis and juniors and their parents, and numbers had grown substantially by the second session on the 11 June.
The under 17 squad will be managed by Glen Morris and will be entered in the Lancashire and Colts League for next season.
The year 7 children, under the general supervision of Child Welfare Officer, Trude Houghton, will be developed to
higher age groups and entered into games with local clubs.
Seal of Approval and Club Mark
he first full training session for LSH’s new Junior Section, 4th June 2006, was the occasion of the presentation of the club’s Seal of Approval and Sports England Clubmark certificates. The certificates were presented to club chairman, John Bithell , and head coach, Paul Woodward, by Merseyside RDO Martin Jones. Also in attendance were assistant RDO Mark Turner and new Community Rugby Coach, Chris Dyson.
